Bootstrap

What agb bootstrap installs, its flags and aliases; the sidecar is not installed

agb bootstrap is the one-time setup step that runs after Installation. It is safe to run again: anything that is already current is left alone.

agb bootstrap [--force | -f] [--force-reinstall]

What bootstrap does

In order (bootstrap() in lib/bootstrap.mjs):

  1. Checks for agy. If agy is not on your PATH, bootstrap prints an info line and tries to fall back to the jetski CLI (L285). If neither exists, the plugin installs are skipped with a warning.
  2. Links booster's own skills into ~/.gemini/skills. From a stable install directory it creates symlinks, so upgrades flow through. When it detects a temporary npx directory it copies the files instead, because symlinks would break once npx exits (L306). An existing entry that is not a symlink is skipped unless you pass --force (L328).
  3. Installs the adlc-antigravity companion plugin from the vendored, integrity-pinned release tarball (L357). It supplies the ADLC doctrine skills and the rails-guard hook.
  4. Installs the antigravity-booster plugin itself (L363).
  5. Writes the terminal shim ~/.local/bin/agb (L372). The shim's write rules are described under Installation.
  6. Prints bootstrap complete!, the hint export ADLC_PROVIDER=agy (which runs @adlc tools on Antigravity quota), and, unless it is running from an npx temporary install, a hint for starting the sidecar (agb sidecar <repo-path>, L390).

If any step fails, bootstrap keeps going and exits with code 1 at the end (L396).

The sidecar is not installed by bootstrap

Bootstrap does not install or register the Sidecar dashboard plugin. It was removed from bootstrap for security reasons (C32). The sidecar is opt-in: start it yourself with agb sidecar <repo-path>. See Sidecar dashboard.

Flags

FlagEffect
--force, -fOverwrite entries in ~/.gemini/skills that exist and are not symlinks. Both spellings are accepted (C32).
--force-reinstallReinstall the bundled adlc-antigravity plugin even when one is present, and overwrite a terminal shim whose content differs (bin/agb.mjs).

agb doctor recommends --force-reinstall when the companion plugin's manifest is corrupt, its contract is incompatible, or the policy-guard self-test fails. See Verify your setup.

Aliases

The following all run bootstrap (C32):

agb bootstrap
agb setup
agb install
agb skills install # also: agb skills setup, agb skills bootstrap

agb setup --help (or -h, on any alias) prints bootstrap's help. agb help bootstrap works too, but agb help setup falls back to the full command list, because help <cmd> only knows the canonical names (bin/agb.mjs).
